Curam® Sandoz. Film-coated tablets and powder for oral suspension. Each 625 mg film-coated tablet contains 500 mg of amoxicillin as amoxicillin trihydrate and 125 mg of clavulanic acid as clavulanate potassium. Each 1000 mg film-coated tablet contains 875 mg of amoxicillin as amoxicillin trihydrate and 125 mg of clavulanic acid as clavulanate potassium. 5 ml of reconstituted suspension of Curam® 156.25mg/5mL contains amoxicillin trihydrate corresponding to 125 mg of amoxicillin, clavulanate potassium corresponding to 31.25 mg of clavulanic acid. 5 ml of reconstituted suspension of Curam®312,5mg/5mL contains amoxicillin trihydrate corresponding to 250 mg of amoxicillin, clavulanate potassium corresponding to 62,5 mg of clavulanic acid. 5 ml of reconstituted suspension of Curam® 457mg/5mL contains amoxicillin trihydrate corresponding to 400 mg of amoxicillin, clavulanate potassium corresponding to 57 mg of clavulanic acid. Curam® is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children: acute bacterial sinusitis (adequately diagnosed), acute otitis media, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis (adequately diagnosed), community-acquired pneumonia, cystitis, pyelonephritis, skin and soft tissue infections in particular cellulitis, animal bites, severe dental abscess with spreading cellulitis, bone and joint infections in particular osteomyelitis. Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents. Dose. Adults and children ≥40kg: Curam® 625mg, 1  film-coated tablets 625mg three times a day. Curam® 1000 mg, 1 film-coated tablets 1000mg two times a day. Children <40 kg: Curam® film-coated tablets 625mg, Curam® suspension 156,25mg/5mL and Curam® suspension 312,5mg/5mL:  20 mg/5 mg/kg/day to 60 mg/15 mg/kg/day given as three divided doses. There are no clinical data available for amoxicillin / clavulanic acid formulations in a 4: 1 ratio of more than 40 mg / 10 mg / kg per day in children under 2 years of age. Curam®457/5mL: 25 mg/3.6 mg/kg/day to 45 mg/6.4 mg/kg/day given as two divided doses; Up to 70 mg/10 mg/kg/day given as two divided doses may be considered for some infections (such as otitis media, sinusitis and lower respiratory tract infections). Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to the active substances, to any of the penicillins, or any of the excipients. History of immediate severe hypersensitivity reactions (i.e., anaphylaxis) or to other Beta-lactam agent (i.e., cephalosporin, carbapenem, or monobactam). History of jaundice/hepatic impairment due to amoxicillin/clavulanic acid. Warnings. Convulsions, hepatic impairment, renal dysfunction should adjust the dose. Adverse effects. Mucocutaneous candidiasis. Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. CDS 2017.
